Willmott Dixon Healthcare Campus of the Future, UK
The Community Healthcare Campus is a healthcare facility showcase that demonstrates how key elements of design and construction, such as Antimicrobial Copper, can help create a better, safer environment for clinicians and patients as well as contributing towards sustainable construction.
The project focuses on design, specification and management,
employing and highlighting the latest advances in science and
technology to create a 'facility of the future' in which wellness
and healthcare are innovatively supported.
With health promotion and illness prevention top of the agenda,
Antimicrobial Copper touch surfaces were specified to contribute
towards reducing reservoirs of infection in key areas.
Antimicrobial Copper also offers the advantage of durability,
providing products with a long service life. Furthermore, at
the end of this, they are 100% recyclable, supporting the
facility's green credentials.
The Antimicrobial Copper products implemented were lever action
mono basin mixer taps to aid in the vital process of ensuring hand
hygiene, cabinet handles for a variety of supply cupboards, and a
stair handrail - a frequently-touched surface many users of the
facility would not immediately consider a potential source of
infectious pathogens.
