European Industry Responds to New Market Opportunity

Responding to growing interest in Antimicrobial Copper
products to help reduce the spread of infection, a new range of
semi-finished products, available in a wide assortment of colours,
has been launched by KME.
1st February 2012
KME - the first manufacturer in Europe approved to use the Cu+
mark - launched their KME Plus® range at the beginning of 2012,
highlighting the scientifically-backed antimicrobial credentials of
the alloys within their range.
They state that, beginning with healthcare environments, the use
of KME Plus® antimicrobial alloys for touch surfaces such as door
and window handles, handrails, headboards, food trays, medical
equipment, and for any finished objects normally surrounding
patients can help reduce the risk of picking up infections from
contaminated surfaces.
KME's Corporate Marketing Director, Monica Di Cosimo, explains
the company's move: "The scientific evidence backing copper's
ability to inhibit germs, viruses and fungi is extremely
compelling, and KME have long offered copper and copper alloy
products, so it was natural we develop a specific KME product range
characterised by the metal's intrinsic antimicrobial
properties."
